And for this weeks installment of "note on the left", I again hijack kurt's blog because I'm too lazy to start my own. And of course it's all about Alexander Cockburn's latest Counterpunch essay. Found here.

My favorite part is the "chinatown" thing about how most people haven't had to face the fact that they are capable of anything. That's very left... very humanistic if you ask me. This is a pretty good installment for Mr. Cockburn... though he does go off on his days as an elite british something or other, he mentions something about swedish chicks being available - more on this please, Mr. Cockburn. I think it's interesting that, supposedly, way more soldiers in the USSR rotated through Afghanistan so the USSR people knew more about the lies than we do.

Chinatown has been coming up alot for me lately. The Manhattan one and the Polanski one. What does Cockburn think about Polanski's arrest, Mr. Larry?

When I was interning at In These Times magazine, Cockburn submitted a piece speculating about Marilyn Quayle's fellatio techniques. He was pissed that we wouldn't run it. Freedom of the press is for those who own one and shit.
